Sports premium

The Government is providing funding of £150 million per annum for academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new, substantial primary school sport funding.

This is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary school head teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The funding can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. At Thomas Gamuel this funding equates to £9805 for 2014-15 academic year.

How is the money being spent?
Thomas Gamuel has joined the Waltham Forest Sports Network which organises inter-school sports competitions and events. This year lots more of our pupils will be taking part in competitive sports against other schools.

Specialist sports coaches (e.g. Rugby) have been employed to run additional PE sessions and introduce children to new sports that they might not otherwise have played.

The school also aims to provide 10 sports clubs each term (e.g. football, cricket, dance, netball, basketball). All of these clubs are free and funded out of the Sports Premium Grant.
