Reading Open Morning
On Tuesday June 3rd (Reception and KS1) and Wednesday June 4th (KS2) parents will have the opportunity to visit the school and join in a guided reading session with their child. All parents are welcome and it is a great chance to see how we teach reading at Thomas Gamuel. The lessons start at 9am and last for approximately half an hour.

        Science Week (June 16th - 20th)

This year, Science Week will have a CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) theme. In special workshop sessions, children will learn about  about forensic science and have the opportunity to become Crime Scene Investigators for the day. During the week, they will also be carrying out different experiments and investigations linked to the CSI theme. On Thursday afternoon, children (and parents) will have the opportunity to visit the Y6 Science Fair.

          Maths Week (June 30th - July 4th)
Lessons and activities during Maths week will focus on improving children's recall of basic number facts, particularly times tables. During the course of the week, there will also be extra homework activities and competitions for children to take part in. There will  be open mornings for parents on the Tuesday (Reception and KS1) and Wednesday (KS2) which will also involve workshops on how to teach number and calculation strategies to children.

Sports Day (July 4th)

Thomas Gamuel will be having its annual sports day on Friday July 4th. It will take place at Waltham Forest Pool and Track and will involve a similar programme of events as to the previous year, although there maybe some adjustments depending on the weather. Parents, as always, are welcome to attend and we will certainly need help during the course of the day, transporting children to and from the venue. If you would like to help, please see your child's class teacher.

Summer Fete (July 9th)
This year's summer fete will take place on the afternoon of July 9th in the school grounds. As always, there will be lots of fun and games, various stalls and activities for children and adults to enjoy. The Y6 children and School Council will be organising many of the activities but if you would like to offer your help or are interested in running any stalls then please contact Mrs Sinclair, through the school office.

Healthy Living Fund Raising Event (July 17th)
A big thank you so far to all the children and parents who have contributed to the school's various fundraising events this year. The final one will take place at the end of the year on July 17th and will have a 'Healthy Living' focus. The School Council will be meeting in June to finalise details of the event and the charities involved. More information will follow nearer the time.
