X Factor Fleur East visiting her home town!

Fireworks Night

This year we will be organising a big fireworks display for all the families in the local area who attend Thomas Gamuel and Sybourn Primary. The event will take place in the school grounds on the evening of Friday November 7th. Gates will open at 6pm with the display due to commence at 7pm. Food and refreshments will also be available during the course of the evening.

Entry to the event will be by ticket only, although the tickets themselves will be free. Each child in the school will be allocated a free ticket. Two additional adult tickets will also be made available for each family. However, due to restrictions on numbers we cannot offer families any additional tickets outside this allocation. Very young children under the age of three will be allowed free entry but we will not able to accommodate older siblings or relatives. If you would like to attend the event tickets can be collected from the school office from Monday October 20th.

                                                                               Parents Evening

There will be an opportunity for parents to meet with their child's class teacher to discuss their progress on Wednesday November 12th and Thursday November 11th. Meetings will last approximately 10 minutes. Letters will be given out at the beginning of November to confirm the time of each parent meeting.

                                                                                Children in Need

To raise funds for Children in Need, the School Council will be organising a special fund raising day on Friday November 14th. For £1 children can dress up as their favourite Super Hero (staff included) and then, for an additional £1, they can take part in a variety of fairground type activities and win lots of prizes. It promises to be another exciting end to the week!

                                                                                    Book Week

Louise Kuenzler: Author of Princess Disgrace, reading workshop with all the children.

Book week will be taking place the week beginning November 24th. A number of events will be taking place, designed to promote children’s enjoyment of books and reading. As well as the book fair after school each day, there will be opportunities for parents to come into the classroom and work with their child during a reading or phonics session. For parents of children in Reception and KS1, the reading open morning will be on Tuesday November 25th (9.00-9.30am), while for parents of children in KS2, it will take place on the Wednesday morning. On Friday (November 28th), we’ve got our Character Day, where all the staff members and pupils will be expected to dress up as a character from one of their favourite stories. The children will have the opportunity to read lots of different books in class during the week and we hope you are able to do the same with your children at home.
